This has become my go-to restaurant in Chiang Mai—every time I visit the city, I somehow end up eating here. Some people always ask, “Why go all the way to Northern Thailand just to eat seafood?” My answer is simple: you’ll understand once you try it yourself. My usual must-order dishes include the baked instant noodles with crab, spicy stuffed pork leg salad, stir-fried cabbage with fish sauce, and mantis shrimp with chili and salt. Unfortunately, on this visit, I arrived a bit late and several ingredients had already sold out, so I ended up trying some different dishes instead. The salt-and-chili fried squid was excellent, the steamed grouper with soy sauce was surprisingly affordable for the quality, and the crab fried rice had that irresistible wok aroma that immediately tells you it was cooked properly. Overall, this is a seafood restaurant that delivers both great flavor and very reasonable prices. It feels like comfort food—simple on the surface, but once you really think about it, every dish clearly has a lot of technique and attention behind it. As for the service, the staff may initially seem a bit serious or not overly attentive, but in reality, the moment you call for them, they respond immediately and never seem to miss a request. If I had to point out any downsides, there are really only two: parking and the restrooms. Other than that, this place continues to be one of my Chiang Mai favorites.
Arrived there close to 6 pm, and we were the first customer for their dinner service. We picked a table overlooking the Ping River and ordered four dishes for four of us. The items came out quickly, and they sure were tasty! Shrimps were large and fresh, squid had such a delicate flavor and not rubbery. If you are looking for tasty seafood dishes, this place has it all. I was lucky to go there with a local seafood she was able to pick what we would enjoy. Their English menu is not substantial compared to their Thai and Chinese menu, however. It’s tucked away from a main road so it would be best to take a taxi or ride a motorcycle.
Good home styled riverside seafood Thai restaurant. If you want something that is simple, no frills and is just quietly beside the Ping river, this is the place. Especially compared to the rest along the street/river. Value for money! Our bill only exceeded 1000 THB because we couldn’t resist ordering the lemongrass steamed fish that cost us 500 THB and the crab fried rice that cost us 300 THB.
Mark Weins did it again! Amazing local seafood meal, Malaysian palate approved!! It was just the 2 of us and we ended up eating 4 dishes because the meal was so good. We had the crab omelet (amazing and packed with crab), stir fried vege (fresh and we'll seasoned), manties prawn (the best dish), and their raw prawns sashimi ( so much layers of flavours but incredibly spicy) The price was about 1300 bath for 2 people. Not the cheapest but definitely worthit. We can wait to come by and try more dishes! Oh but we ware of the hungry mosquitoes. They are relentless
This restaurant is one of a kind! I recently went there with members of my family for lunch, and the black pepper crab and shrimp dishes were particularly phenomenal. The seafood generally was incredibly fresh, and we also enjoyed the crab egg curry dish! The tom yom soup was also very flavorful and had a good level of spice. The whole meal was very affordable even by Thai standards. This is the kind of place you can go with a large group and not break the bank while still having a delicious meal.
