My experience at Mae Pen Seafood Chiang Mai was very enjoyable. The food was delicious and well-prepared, offering great flavors that reflect the local cuisine. The prices are reasonable, making it a good choice for both casual meals and gatherings. One of the highlights is the riverside setting, which creates a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere while dining. The service was also good, with staff being attentive and friendly. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy tasty seafood in a nice environment.
Five stars for the steamed blue crab 🦀 and the dipping sauce 🤤 I also enjoyed the creamy ton yum with sea bass 🫶 The crab cost 465 thb which is just under $15 usd. About the cost of a blue crab hand roll in Los Angeles. The portion could have served two people but I managed to finish it off 🤭 The soup was 295 thb ($9 usd) which translates to about $4.50 per serving. Would recommend this spot if you are nearby!
I would not eat here again. Food is decently priced but literally all the popular food out of stock. Grilled squid is so rubbery and dry The glass noodles with prawn the glass noodle taste very subpar compared to the one I ate outside. The prawns were really good though.
I used to like eating here. I don't know if ownership or management changed, but after the last visit here, I wouldn't go back. The place was empty at 6pm on a Saturday night at one of the busiest times of the year in Chiang Mai. That was alarming as before it used to be packed. Ordered several dishes and all of them were disappointing. The seafood was not fresh and tasted frozen. Not only that, but the service is terrible. The place is empty and the staff still forget to bring us our ordered drinks. I'm not sure what happened to this place, but it's sad to see the decline. Not recommended.
Fantastic food and great service, we came to pick up takeaway but were early when we visited so had the place to ourselves so decided to stay and dine in a bit also. Very nice view of the river. The seafood is fresh and prepared well, very tasty. Many people go here for the prawns as they are HUGE. Highly recommend, we'll definitely be back again. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for here
