Shin Karē

I had a really great experience at Shin Kare. The shop itself has a very authentic Japanese feel—clean, minimal, and well put together. All the staff wear matching uniforms, which adds to that cohesive, professional vibe. They also have chicken skin skewers just like in Japan!! Don't worry if you are western like me, its actually so good ^. ^ The drink selection is also solid, with a nice range from soft drinks to beer and water, so there’s something for everyone. I ordered the beef hamburger curry with rice. The curry itself was delicious—slightly lighter and more soup-like than a traditional thick Japanese curry, but still full of flavor and very enjoyable. They also leave chili spice and a jar of pickled ginger on the table, which is a great touch since you can adjust the taste exactly how you like it. The only small downside was that the beef patty was a little pink for my preference, and I wasn’t asked how I’d like it cooked. That said, it’s a minor issue and didn’t take away much from the overall experience. Overall, definitely worth a try if you’re into Japanese curry or just want something a bit different.

Delicious! I had a pork donburi with scrambled egg topping. Meat was perfect, sauce was not too sweet nor spicy. The veggies were crunchy and not overcooked. The eggs could be creamier but was perfectly acceptable. The bottle of S&B flakes makes it even more Japanese. The deep fried lotus was sliced thin like crackers - I don't think the taste was anything special but it did add extra crunch. Service was quick and friendly. Space is air conditioned and clean. Overall excellent, will return next time.
