Review: Bamee Kon Sae Lee Thong Lo Bamee Kon Sae Lee Thong Lo is a popular noodle shop in the Thong Lo area known for its classic Thai-Chinese style egg noodles. The restaurant is simple and casual, but it attracts both locals and food lovers looking for authentic flavors. The highlight of the menu is the bamee (egg noodles), which have a firm and springy texture. The noodles are served with well-seasoned roasted pork (moo daeng), crispy pork belly, and sometimes wontons. The broth is light but flavorful, balancing sweetness and savory notes typical of traditional Bangkok noodle shops. One thing that stands out is the quality of the roasted pork. It is tender, slightly smoky, and pairs perfectly with the chewy noodles. The portion size is satisfying, and you can add condiments like chili flakes, vinegar, and fish sauce to customize the taste. The restaurant has a local street-food atmosphere—not fancy, but lively and authentic. It is a great place for a quick lunch or late-night comfort food when you are in the Thong Lo neighborhood.
The shrimp wontons were quite delicious—the skin was thin and nicely done. However, the noodles and soup were fairly average. The crab claws were on the smaller side, and it seemed like they may have been lightly treated (possibly with boric acid) to preserve texture, which unfortunately reduced the natural sweetness of the crab meat. KH Guide & Rating :- Accessibility : 4.5/5 Easily spotted along the main road and within walking distance from Thong Lo station, though parking can be challenging. Cleanliness : 3.5/5 Ambience : A compact setup across the ground and first floor, with limited seating. Air-conditioned, but space is quite tight. Food Quality : 3.5/5 Overall average. Pricing : 3/5 Slightly on the higher side for what’s offered. Attentiveness : 5/5 Would Visit Again : Occasionally, mainly for late-night dining as it stays open until midnight.
The noodles and soup are clean and well-made, and the crispy pork is tasty without being overly fatty. However, the service is the biggest downside. The staff consistently have an attitude, and even simple questions about the menu are often met with irritation rather than helpfulness. The older owners at the cashier also tend to come across as cold and angry. On one occasion, I only had a large bill and no smaller cash, and the staff seemed annoyed about it and said something under their breath. 🥲🥲 I visited many times because it was close to my home and convenient for breakfast. While the food is decent and reliable, I think the place is a bit overrated.
**CAN COME AGAIN** - noodles = great flavour and texture - noodles not enough, 3 mouth and gone -roasted pork , crispy , flavourful -char siew : eh thailand char siew style very diff from sg or my. So not fave. - sausage, yummers - prawn wanton soup = normal - thai style fried rice with meats = okay - condiments : green chili n vinegar = yummmmm. Green chilli and soya sauce = yum. - pork soup yummers - BEST PART= unlimited PORK LARD, ADD AS MUCH AS YOU WANT. I went pork lard 1 spoon with vege table. Pork lard 1 spoon with 1 wanton.... etc etc and pork lard was crispy and good. I hope to be back because i still got 349 food spots to clear for bkk.....
Had a really comforting meal at Bamee Kon Sae Lee Thong Lo. Tried their dry noodles with crab and crispy pork — simple but super satisfying. The noodles had a great texture, the crab added a nice sweetness, and the crispy pork was juicy with the perfect crunch. Feels like the kind of place you’d keep coming back to for an easy comfort meal in Bangkok.
