One of the best All-You-Can-Eat Japanese buffet in Taipei city, that’s location in the 5 star Grand Hyatt in the financial/tourist district near Taipei101 and Elephant Mountain. It must have been 30 something years ago when the hotel was just opened its doors to business, that I started to dine in this wonderful restaurant. The buffet serves the freshest seafood as well as the high quality ingredients such as at least 6 to 8 different kind of sashimi, various sushi and hand rolls made to order, steaks chopped into dice, sizzling steamed shrimps, crabs and shellfish, ramen and udon cooked behind counters, Japanese fried rice and huge selection of salads and pickled veggies. The desserts were never disappointing full of jelly, mochi, ice cream and sweet soup. When other restaurants are still offering early in the season not so great cut watermelons, their watermelon slices are totally delicious and sweet to a level (obviously well picked by the chef) Last but not least is the service, they clean up your table instantly when you sit back from finishing your dishes or got up for your next round. Waiters are smiley and sweet, most impressive is that instead of keeping you waiting, managers come cover and help clean up or fill up your tea cups. That tells you why they are always beloved.

This is a very peculiar five-star hotel. The Grand Hyatt is a renowned hotel with a long history in Taiwan, but strangely, the Japanese restaurant inside lacks any of the sophistication expected of a five-star hotel. Perhaps to accommodate more diners, the tables are spaced very close together, almost nonexistently. I think most people who go to a five-star hotel for Japanese cuisine are looking for a pleasant dining environment and atmosphere. Even the best ingredients are greatly diminished in such an incongruous setting, negatively impacting the dining experience. I personally believe there are better alternatives available.

It's a great dining option for those with NT$5000 prepaid e-ticket cards, but if you don't have one, I don't think it's worth eating here, as the food is unreasonable. Fantastic, high quality, super delicious Japanese buffet in a wonderful ambiance. Do note that there's a 20% service charge + mandatory gratuities.

Irodori has been consistently impressive across my 5 visits in 2025 Service is above average — staff are attentive and professional. Food highlights: • Sashimi: a must-try, always fresh and high quality • Sushi: better than many top-rated buffets in the region • Soup: something I make sure to have every visit • Salads: rich, flavorful, and satisfying • Grill: looks very tempting, though I rarely have room left to try it • Fruits, desserts, and drinks: all maintained at above top-tier buffet standards Overall, the quality and consistency keep me coming back. A very reliable choice for a great Japanese buffet experience.
