Phuket Thai Bistro

Located right in front of the jetty port, this is probably the first restaurant you’ll notice if you’re arriving from a cruise ship. With Phuket’s heat, I wasn’t willing to walk around searching for other options, so my friends and I decided to try the closest place we could find. At first glance, the traditional wood-fired oven at the front and the mostly Western menu on the first few pages didn’t give me high expectations for Thai food. But I was completely wrong. They serve some of the best Thai dishes I had during my month in Thailand. The menu isn’t as extensive as a typical Thai restaurant, but they still offer popular classics like tom yum soup and Thai curries. We started with onion rings and sweet potato fries, which were perfectly crispy, not greasy, and very flavorful. The drinks were excellent as well. For the main course, we ordered a plain Thai omelette, papaya salad, pad kra phrao, stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts, tom kha gai, and their southern Thai-style deep-fried fish. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. Even though we ordered quite a lot for the three of us, we finished everything, which says a lot. The standout dishes were definitely the tom kha gai and the fried fish. They were absolutely amazing, and I would gladly come back just for those two.

We had lunch yesterday here. The location is close to our hotel and decided to try this place based on good reviews. Tried the following: 1. Chicken Satay - very dry and unedible chicken 2. Hummus platter - more yogurt than hummus and pita was too hard 3. Thai ice tea with boba - thai tea was good but boba was like jelly 4. Chicken fried rice - the best of the lot 5. Masuman curry pizza - not bad but lacked the masuman curry flavor 6. California burger - really bad 7. Ham and cheese sandwich - good Overall a very bad experience.

Soe was our waiter for this evening, he was attentive and was super efficient. My partner enjoyed the Red Beef Curry with Roti and I had the Green Chicken Curry, it was delicious, although I couldn't finish it all because it was quite a large portion.

The food is good big portion. The beer is not too expensive. But the service is very poor. The waitress so miserable. Don’t even say thank you when I paid the bills. You put the on the wall good food good mood. I didn’t get that feeling. You charge for the service but it’s not what I get today.

An amazing Phad Thai Shrimp with a fresh coconut, followed by a red curry chicken. They have it all from Thai to clay over pizza and great quality.
