We came here for celebrating an early Mothers Day. The vibe was good and the environment was cozy. We aimed for the roast goose, and it surely worth every penny. The crispy skin and tender meat indeed water my mouth again. We ordered for three dishes with the goose, a sautéed goose cubes and a soup, and both are OK. As a Cantonese-style restaurant, we also had some dim sum, like shrimp dumplings and the rice rolls. Overall, the experience was good, UNTIL WE ASKED FOR CHECK OUT. One female server came and collected my plate number, invoice info, but not my credit card. We waited for 15 minutes and reminded the lady again, finally realized that she didn’t have my payment tool. After obtained my card and finished the charge (another 10 minutes) and signature, we were told there was a lottery game that we need to fill out an online form and put the ballot back to the box. While filling it, a gentleman came up and remind us, TWICE, that we should leave due to closure of the restaurant. Well, hello? Am I the one to delay my departure? After all, we left and intended to drive, and, surprisingly, my plate number was NOT reimbursed. Maybe not that surprise with such a lousy service quality. We went back to the restaurant, and received an apparent unpleasant apology saying that we have problems with the system. Oops, sounds like I shall be sorry for blaming you for missing plate number. Well, I did wrote a formal complaint via the system but got nothing back. Maybe I don’t deserve a “Grand Hyatt service” when spending less than 10,000 TWD.

Very nice Chinese restaurant in Hyatt Hotel Taipei. Delicious dim sum and other menu. Peaceful atmosphere so you can relax and enjoy your meal. Staffs are supportive and attentive.

Pricey but we enjoyed every moment of our experience! We were staying at the Hyatt and asked for a lunch reservation. The Hyatt and Pearl Liang staff were accommodating and we got the reservation very quickly. Our main goal was to have dimsum. The restaurant has an austere but chic ambiance and it gives you a sense of class. Once seated, our server was nice and helpful with recommendations. We got a pot of hot tea, which was a great start to the meal. The sauces they provided for the table were delicious. The green one was our favorite! We ordered the truffle paste steamed prawn dumplings with pork, the turnip cake, the pan fried pork bun with pickled vegetables, the deep fried pork and shrimp taro puff with mild curry sauce, steamed Chicken feet in oyster sauce, the pork and prawn dumpling with abalone, and the pandan salted egg yolk custard bun for dessert. I also ordered the sweetened bitter gourd jelly but turned out that they never placed the order so we didn't end up getting that. If you truly want to enjoy the food at a decent speed, come here early. We came around 1 pm and their kitchen takes the last order at 1:45 pm. We felt a little hurried while having to place our order while they started cleaning up around us! Among the dimsum, my favorite was the deep fried shrimp and pork taro puff. My husband's favorite was the pan fried pork bun. We both equally enjoyed the turnip cake. The truffle paste prawn and pork dumpling came next. Our least favorite was the pork and prawn dumpling with abalone. The abalone texture just didn't go with the dumpling itself. The chicken feet were interesting. It is a decently sized portion and the oyster sauce was good. We didn't realize how many bones are in chicken feet so it was difficult to eat this. I personally didn't enjoy the pandan salted egg yolk custard buns because I had a different idea of what salted egg yolk custard was going to be. Husband loved it but the custard just tasted like regular egg yolk to me and I don't like egg yolk. Our final bill was around $2700 NTD. So like I said, pricey but we enjoyed the experience. We definitely felt quite full at the end of the meal and ended up taking some of the dimsum to go. If you are looking for a fancy-ish meal and like dimsum, I recommend trying this restaurant out!

After a long day in Taipei, what I wanted was just to have a relaxing dinner with my wife. We are both dim-sum lovers and we stayed at Grand Hyatt, so we went to its “Pearl Liang” Cantonese Restaurant and the foods we ordered there were surprisingly excellent! I really think the dim sum this restaurant offered tasted different. They were really refined and very delicious. In addition, the restaurant staff were very helpful and offering great services. If you like dim sum, don’t miss the opportunity to try the really refined dim sum and Cantonese foods at “Pearl Liang” restaurant of Grand Hyatt when you visit Taipei.
