An absolute must visit for all seafood lovers. Bit of a trek from the city central but oh so worth it. It was so fun perusing each aisle and oohing and aahing at all the things on display. There were live tanks of the freshest seafood, ready to eat Bento, hot food, anything you can think of. We had lunch here at the sushi bar and got the Li Zhou set menu with a couple add ons. The sea urchin gunkan was packed and we immediately got another one because it was so good. The fish was fresh and hit that seafood craving. Such an amazing meal and experience here.
If you're a seafood lover, this place deserves a spot on your Taipei itinerary. The concept is quite unique — part seafood market, part restaurant — allowing you to see the incredible variety of fresh seafood before deciding what to eat. The highlight for me was definitely the cod. It was unbelievably soft and delicate, almost like eating cotton. The sashimi was equally impressive, with thick cuts and incredible freshness packed into every bite. Beyond the raw seafood, the cooked dishes were also excellent. Despite how busy and popular the place is, everything runs remarkably smoothly. The dining area mainly consists of standing indoor tables, which adds to the fast-paced and energetic atmosphere. One thing to note is that this is largely a self-service concept, so don't forget to clear your tray and sort your waste into the designated recycling categories after your meal. Also, be prepared as some sections operate on a cash-only basis. Come with an empty stomach because there are plenty of tempting options to explore. Fresh seafood, efficient operations, and a unique market-to-table experience make this one of the most memorable dining spots in Taipei.
A must come for the kind of experience.. fresh fish market 20mins from Taipei City. The sashimi is very fresh and the king crab 🦀 legs is a must try!! Price are also reasonable. They also have those bento kind of sashimi or other Japanese food for you to buy and enjoy at the standing tables located at the exit of the building. Go for the Uni handroll.. highly recommended. My whole family enjoyed it. Will definitely come back for more.
The standing sushi bar has good sushi by international standards. Very fresh, served mostly pure. Got the Li Fan set plus some cut rolls and seared rolls. For the amount and quality of sushi I had, I thought 1300 Twd was a reasonable price. Criticisms: - The lack of seating for the price: whack. I stood for like 45 minutes for this meal. - Cash only Pro tips for future me when I come back: - Seared salmon nigiri was my favorite (and only 50 Twd!). I’d rather order 20 of those than the set. Check the à la carte menu. - Second place: eel nigiri, sashimi, cut rolls - Another reviewer raved about smoked halibut but the chef didn’t recognize that; seared halibut was okay - You can ask them to sear any nigiri on the menu. - There was no line at 7 PM on a weeknight - Last order for sushi is 930 PM on a weeknight (earlier for grill). EDIT: it’s been months but I find myself comparing every sushi restaurant to this place. The quality to price ratio for their seared salmon is unmatched. Updating to 5 stars, annoyances notwithstanding. UPDATE: Landed in Taipei and headed straight here with my bags. Was as good as I remembered. Arrived a bit before 9 PM without issue on a weeknight.
Affordable and fresh sushi and sashimi! This establishment consists of a standing sushi bar and ready-to-eat food. The prices of the RTE items ranges a lot with discounted items being below $100 to unagi pried at $475. There were very few options available and the racks were half empty. The standing sushi bar was a better option since we could have full set meals from $480. We chose the Li Zhou ($580) and Li Fan ($780). Both sets were overwhelmingly filling and we struggled to finish the nigiri. Next time, we’ll share one nigiri sushi and ala carte items instead.
