On L2 in Breeze shopping mall. The ambience was nice, almost like a bar serving Taiwanese cuisine. Or rather a modernized version of it. Such as having chicken soup served in a tea pot, and 盐酥鸡 served with mayonnaise and unique cocktails. In general, almost every dish was a delight, but the fried rice is probably what left the deepest impression on me. We ordered 2 versions, 1 with mala pork belly and the other with steak. The flavours were somewhat distinct but yet tasted good together too. The desserts were also enjoyable, a twist to traditional Tiramisu by replacing the fingers with a red bean base that wasn't too sweet. This is their signature, but I preferred the Pistachio Crepe Cake instead, being lighter yet nutty.

A Michelin-Recognized Gem: Modern Flavors at Sinchao Rice Shoppe For a recent special celebration, I decided to visit Sinchao Rice Shoppe, a Michelin-recommended spot known for its elevated take on traditional flavors. The interior immediately sets the mood with its rich, vibrant, "casual luxe" aesthetic. The menu is impressive, offering an extensive selection of both drinks and creative dishes. I highly recommend the Smoked Squid; the smokiness was beautifully aromatic and added a unique depth to the flavor. I also tried the Mullet Roe Fried Rice with Seared Scallops. The scallops were thick and incredibly juicy, though served a bit rare for my personal preference. What I appreciated most was how light and refined the cooking felt, beautifully presented without the heavy sauces often found in traditional Chinese cuisine. Definitely a perfect meal worth the visit!

Sinchao Rice Shoppe offers a refined spin on Taiwanese comfort food without losing its roots. The pork cutlet was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy inside, well-seasoned and not overly greasy. The scallop rice with fish roe was a highlight: sweet, tender scallops paired with the savory roe, all sitting on fragrant rice that tied everything together beautifully. Even the tea cocktails were thoughtfully done, balanced and not overly sweet, which elevated the whole dining experience beyond just a rice shop. The space feels modern yet warm, making it a great spot for a relaxed but quality meal in Taipei. Definitely worth a visit if you appreciate comfort food done with finesse.

So delicious. The mullet roe fried rice is a scary colour but it has the most fragrant peppery, umami taste. The three cup chicken is a familiar taste, and the sea bass is a really healthy, comforting and soulful dish with plenty of cabbage for the health conscious who still wants something savoury and yummy but light and healthy. The mung bean tiramisu, needless to say, is truly rich and outstanding.

New and funky spin on Taiwan cuisine. Delicious. You pay for higher prices due to the ambience and presentation. Taste is good. Ingredients are fresh. The restaurant is located in the Breeze department store, just next to Taipei City Hall MRT station.
